For health and wellbeing

my vision

Hi, I'm glad you're here.

I'm Maya, I'm a naturopath and before I take you through exactly what that means, I wanted to tell you what I do, and how it can apply to you

I often hear from my patients that they wish they could achieve the major concepts of "wellness" and a "healthy life-style" and "wellness", but unfortunately they view them as being unachievable, expensive, complicated, unavailable, or have a host of other misconceptions that keep us away from our goals.

What I do is meet with you, listen, and learn, and then I get to do my favourite thing: I translate these big, important, life-changing concepts into simple practical steps you can take.

I work with you to discover how we can make a healthy lifestyle fit your life. Yes -  that's right. I don't try to get you to fit into a box, I make the box fit your life.

We decide together what are the goals you want to achieve, and then we find the simplest and most convenient way to get you there.

So if you're looking for a treatment plan tailored to suit you, a plan that offers you the most accurate answer to your needs, without turning your life upside down, progressing at a speed that suits you in order to help you achieve your health goals, you are in the right place.

You may want a 180 degree transformation, or you may be ready for small baby steps and testing the water: either way, when you feel you are ready to get the ball rolling, I would love nothing more than to support you along this road.

Even a thousand mile journey begins with a single step.

What is naturopathy

Naturopathy is a holistic approach to western medicine. As a naturopath, I base my treatment on the same western diagnosis and lab test results as your GP, but I also look at the whole person, who is more than just a collection of symptoms. My aim is to try, together with my patients, to reach the root of the problem.

Naturopathic treatment may include a dietary change or improvement, the use of herbal medicine or supplements, aromatherapy, bach flower remedies, and more. Treatment is personally tailored to each individual, and so it suits a wide range of health and sickness situations - weight loss or healthy lifestyle adjustments, strengthening the immune system, managing emotional situations or adjustment difficulties, through to treating chronic or accute conditions.

What does an appointment look like

Essentially, the treatment can be broken down in to two parts.

The first part is more clinical in nature. The first thing I do is try to look at the person before me in a clinical way, without emotions. I work with the patient to identify what are the imbalances in their body? How is their sleep? How much stress do they experience on a regular basis? I look at different test results, but also at the hair, skin, nails and more, in order to assess how they are doing. I try to identify what the person before me is missing in order to return to balance and achieve their goals.

In the second part of the treatment, I try to look deeper, to understand who is standing before me: what are their dreams and aspirations? How can I help the person achieve them? I believe that you have to meet a person where they are, and create a realistic plan. I try to understand how I can help the person without turning their life upside down.

At this point we work together to build a treatment protocol, in order to achieve the physical and mental goals in an easy and seamless way.

Treatment sessions take place at varying frequencies according to the patient's requirements, until we are both confident that we have solved the issue with which they came in, and that now they have all the tools required to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
